On May 26, 2022, three international exchange students from our partner institutions experienced Japanese tea ceremony at a traditional tearoom in Shuukou-Kaikan.

The event was organized by tea ceremony club members. During the event, they enjoyed a seasonal Japanese confectionery, which was served with a bowl of freshly whisked matcha green tea. They followed appropriate etiquettes, such as saying “Otemae chodai itashimasu” and bowing to the host before drinking tea. It was a significant opportunity for them to participate and make tea under the instruction of the tea ceremony club members at the end of the session.

Niklas Halme from Turku University of Applied Sciences said, "It was a great experience and I know, Japanese tea ceremony has a long history. So, it was really a wonderful event. I'm planning to join the tea ceremony club to learn the art of tea making". He also added,
"I am enjoying my time here and the staff and faculties are very co-operative. I'm excited to work on a project with faculty members and students".
